RDR logo.JIHAD - As the Republican Party moves toward the omnibus Super Tuesday primaries, ya'll, George Dubya Bush has publicly apologized to Archbishop O'Connor of the state of New York for appearing at South Carolina's Bob Jones University without separating himself from the far right fundamentalist stands of that institution. This has caused a jihad (Arabic for "holy war") in the Grand Old Party.

Senator John McCain, the feisty contender, has capitalized on the Bush gaffe in his Michigan primary victory and continues to use it as a weapon against the well-heeled Texas governor. How can McCain resist, especially after televangelist Pat Robertson was also instrumental in the Dubya's campaign victory in South Carolina?

For those of you who missed it, Robertson made a mass, computer-generated telephone message to South Carolina voters claiming that former New Hampshire legislator Warren Rudman, a McCain ally, was an "anti-Christian bigot."

Yep, ya'll, the rhetoric on the G.O.P. side of this campaign has become white hot. Bush is now working very hard to make McCain's campaign tactics the issue, while McCain made a speech in Virginia Beach, Virginia, home of Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition, saying that the party should dissociate itself from "extremist" religious fundamentalism from either left or right.

So the real deal behind this is that John McCain has a secondary case he wants the Republicans to consider: polling. Recent polls suggest that people now rate McCain 25 points higher than the now-obvious winner on the Democrat side, Al Gore. George Dubya, meanwhile, rates even money. Oh-oh!

No matter how you cut it, this is politics at its dirtiest ---- just as I predicted it would become. While Fight Night at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem was fun to watch in the Democratic race, this here jihad among the Republicans --- with claims of bigotry flying right and left --- is pure Trailer Trash heaven!

This is American politics as we have always known and loved it! And George Dubya can feel his "Big Mo'" being sucked out of the Big Money Balloon every day that the Mouthpiece Media leads with more on the jihad.

This little whup-ass session didn't hurt him in Virginia today --- but that's the durn state that almost sent Oliver ("Iran-Contra") North to the United States Senate. That Gov. Dubya kicked off his campaign at Bob Jones University, which not only has officially called the Pope the Anti-Christ but also bans interracial dating, was a cynical and crassly political move on his part to win in South Carolina after McCain kicked his butt in New Hampshire.

Now the chickens are coming home to roost and he can hear a lot of folks whispering about McCain as the new coalition-builder of the G.O.P. And George Dubya is sweating this one, as well he should.

So, when Bill Bradley drops out of the Democratic race next Tuesday, expect even more air time for the Republican side of this traveling circus, folks. You can take that to the bank.
