Through unprecedented ineptitude, compounded by subsequent cover-up, Bush and his Vulcans allowed the worst terrorist attack in the country's history. Even a cursory investigation into the 9/11 Commission hearings makes this point painfully obvious. They did not heed the dire warnings of the outgoing administration in the least. Their hubris made us easy targets for our enemies. Regardless of this fact, they are shamelessly ready to march their way to a second term claiming a monopoly on antiterrorism.
This syndrome manifests itself repeatedly in all aspects of Bush's poor stewardship. He, along with his neo-conservative administration, seems to be intent on bankrupting the national treasury for reasons known only to them. Proof of this abounds, but perhaps the most illustrative evidence is that this is the only time in our country's history and, further, we may be the only country in modern history where leaders have undertaken a massive policy of across the board tax reduction while engaged in a major war(s). In a remarkably short time, they have squandered the budget surpluses they inherited and turned them into deficits as far as the eye can see. They take no responsibility for this and, stunningly, use their other failures -- such as the war on terrorism and corporate scandals -- as excuses for such scandalous profligacy.
Bush and his administration misled (read "lied") our country into war. It is now painfully obvious to the people of this country and the world that the premise for the war in Iraq was based on exaggerated claims founded on flimsy [or] non-existent evidence. You can't claim you "know" weapons of mass destruction exist only to subsequently discover that they don't. The claim of this unconfirmed knowledge is nothing more than an out and out lie. They still to this day insist on repeating the myth that the war in Iraq was an integral part of the war on terrorism as well as a legitimate disarming of weapons of mass destruction. Contrarily, it could be successfully argued that this war has created an ideal environment in which terrorism could flourish where it didn't measurably exist before. Because of now porous borders in Iraq, our troops are increasingly encountering foreign combatants from neighboring countries such as Syria and Iran. Authorities within friendly mid-east nations, such as Jordan, pleaded with the United States before we went ahead with this folly. ?These moderate voices contended that a unilateral war on Iraq will undoubtedly create a thousand Osama bin Ladens. If these predictions turn out to be correct, who will take responsibility? Based on past performance, this administration will never take any responsibility for its actions.
This war has further served to be a massive diversion of precious resources away from some of our real threats home and abroad.? America is in a constant state of heightened alert and fear is the order of the day because homeland security is a myth. Our railways, roadways, chemical and nuclear facilities have not been adequately shored up along with other fundamental sections of our infrastructure. This administration reminds us regularly that another devastating attack can happen at any time, as if to inoculate them from any responsibility in case a catastrophe does occur. The unfinished business of an unstable Afghanistan will also surely re
ar its ugly head in the future as well.
When is the last time you talked politics with your dog?
This administration marched our mighty military forces into Baghdad with no plan as to what to do after they've conquered and occupied Iraq. Any plans that did exist, such as State Department reports, were completely ignored because Donald Rumsfeld insisted that the Pentagon play the dominant role in post-war operations. Now that this disaster is manifesting itself into an intractable quagmire, the Bush administration again claims to be the sole authority able to heal this malady as well.
Our all volunteer armed forces cannot sustain the ever increasing demands this administration is placing on them. The Bush administration inherited the most powerful armed forces ever assembled on this planet. They are now in the process of recklessly squandering this heirloom as well. There will undoubtedly come a time in the near future when some form of conscription [military draft] policy is reinstated. This will certainly cause the people of this nation to start truly questioning what kind of future these people are leading us into. But the Bush people have already shown how they handle criticism. If anyone dares to publicly doubt the wisdom of any of their destructive policies, their finely honed attack machine is ever-poised to pounce to destroy the offender rather than to attempt to honestly defend their indefensible policies.
The list goes on, but there is a cure to all the ills this administration has wrought upon this nation in such a short time -- vote them out of office this November before it's too late.
HARTFORD, CT, USA - In their unabashed grab for power in the US, this administration exhibits a most extreme case of Munchausen's syndrome by proxy. For those who may not know the term, it is a unique form of child abuse whereby the abuser (usually a parent) makes the victim very sick in assorted ways in order to exhibit heroism when the victim is "saved". There have been cases where the victims have died before the perpetrator is discovered. The tragedy, in this instance, is that the victim is our country. This administration has done its best to inflict extreme illness on this country and now offers up to the public that only George W. Bush can offer the remedies.
In all of this, George W. Bush has squandered the trust of many of our longtime allies. Following the inexorable drumbeat to war, the Bush doctrine codified a preemptive strike policy which has made the world a much more dangerous place as other countries will undoubtedly follow our reckless lead in the future.? North Korea has already stated that it intends to do just that.
