Throughout history, a very small percentage of the population has been in control of the majority. At this point in time, the song remains the same and shows no sign of changing its tune. These groups of individuals seem to guide the herd with nothing but their own interests in mind. Currently in the United State of America, these groups control everything in a very interesting way and in reaction to a changing attitude that has grown in the herd.
I personally feel that in the US most of the population truly believes in the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and The Bill of Rights. The great thing about the concept of a democracy is that we can all have out own interpretation of these documents. This leads to public debate of policies and new ideas to make our country a better place for all of us to live in. For an elite group of people to control us, a new approach of control had to be developed. The first task is to understand how this happened before one can even think of questioning the STATE that we now find ourselves in.
Now history is a tricky thing. The farther away you get from the actual events, the easier it is to rewrite. A dead person cannot dispute things that are in print after they have left the mortal plane. From this state, rewrites tend to utilize the rule that lies tend to work the best where they are hidden within full and half-truths. Thus, the work of figuring out the algebra of history can be a very tedious and frustrating task.
However, even with all the rhetoric, half-truths, and out-right lies, patterns are very hard to totally erase.
The United State of America as a nation has always had an imperialistic nature, to one degree or another, since our initial break from England. This is the first pattern that I want to bring up because I feel that it is the most important, and also one of the most covered up by media and textbook histories (in the STATE as least). One must read between the lines of the official bylines to come to this conclusion and also to ignore LOUD REPETITION, since it is rarely (if ever) stated in that particular politically incorrect way.
From the imperialistic pattern, we then come to The Monroe Doctrine pattern. This doctrine is normally thought of as some sort of statement that was supposed to keep the US out of European affairs and to let them fight their own wars. IT WAS NOT JUST THIS, it was also a statement to the world that the Americas were not open to any more colonization. Well, actually make that EUROPEAN colonization. To keep the STATE from expanding into the other parts of the continent would go against the imperialistic pattern, and there can be none of that when you are an imperialist.
But, in general, the US adhered to the "let's not get ourselves involved in the affairs of the damn Europeans" aspect until WW1. At this point, one of the first uses of hardcore propaganda was shoved down the throats of a population that for the most part wanted to have nothing to do with the European War. As History seems to show, this was a great accomplishment and the role model for the many PR campaigns to follow (if the tool is not broken, don't fix it!).
The advantage of looking back on the situation that brought the US into WW1 is observing the Pattern of Control. One can find similar patterns from then until now, though it is usually awhile after a situation that people look back and say, "wait a minute, what the hell was up with that?" (Not to mention how long it takes for the Freedom of Information Act to get classified documents into the public spotlight). Hindsight is always 20/20.
It is theough the act of looking though a dark glass that one can begin to put patterns together in ones own mind. To do this one must also recognize that the LOUD REPETITION that is being pushed by the media is a diversionary tool to play with the emotions of public.
It is my hope that in the current climate of things, people will begin to open their eyes to see that we are being manipulated, in a very subtle way. That the Republicans and Democrats are in bed together and that everything that is going on right now is part of a chess game that "We the People" are the pawns of game.
