NOVI SAD - [AUTHOR'S NOTE - The following is the transcript of a telephone conversation U.S. President Bill Clinton & Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic. I know this just must have taken place. ---RD]

"I suppose that you know who is speaking..."

"It must be some kind of telepathy, I was just thinking about you. How is Hillary?"

"What kind of dirty trick [did] you have on your mind when you released USA soldiers?"

"No trick at all..."

"Listen, you are not Sheanocchio or his Luftwaffe general, I am not [a] well paid or naive journalist, and we are not taking part [in a] Brussels briefing, but in serious business! In another words, stop telling me fairy tales and tell me what you expect me to do with this hot potato in my hands! To muffle myself with it? You ha[ve] forced me to work here under pressure! You don't know that I have [the] Republicans around [here to deal with]?"

"Take it easy, I couldn't do anything! Reverend [Jesse Jackson] was been here to pick them up, [wasn't] he?"

"I don't know what you are trying to say! When I afford civilian casualties among your citizens, why you [do you] dilly-dally with mine?"

"Sorry, fellow, I am behind [in] my work with my own people..."

"You always find some excuse. I warn you, one single rig more and we will speak in another way."

"We can speak in this way immediately! I am sick of your vanity and your ignorance! How could you [have] targeted my residence two days after I had changed wallpapers? What [are you] paying your intelligence [service for]?"

"The way in which I am spending [the] money of my tax payers is not your business! It is even not their business! Only one single effrontery more and you should meet irreducible consequences!"

"If you think that I am shaking now, you are wrong!"

"Do not force me to do something what would you regret after!"

"You are only crowing!"

"You just doomed your people! And you can blame yourself! Do you know what I am just writing down?"

"I know! Just go on, we are not afraid! If you want a piece [of me], you will have it!"

"Be sure that you will have it too! "


RASTISLAV DURMAN was born in 1956 (Senta, Vojvodina, Yugoslavia.) He is married and has been living in Slovakia since 1993. He's a writer, (4 novels, over 40 radio and TV plays, more than 1000 short stories,) and TV director (over 500 hours of program). Mr. Durman graduated from University of Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, 1982, with a degree in Philosophy. His postgraduate studies were at the same institution, from which he graduated in1984. Rastislav has twenty years of experience in TV media. He is one of the founders of City TV Foundation and the International Festival of Local TV Broadcasters (Head of Program and Development Dept., Kosice, Slovakia since 1995.)

This is Mr. Durman's fourth piece for The World's Magazine. His previous submission was a satirical and hypothetical look at a possible conversation between two fathers whose sons had been "called up", one American, one Serbian.
