A move back to our Babe Covers. Maybe this is good. Expect more surprises on Sunday, but for now...
The dominant theme from the writers is that we should "guide" the readers to a new kind of web magazine content. That smacks to me of the underlying conception behind "portal" sites: that the public is dumb. I tend to believe, as Jakob Nielsen convincingly argues, that people know what they want, in this or any other medium, and reward it.
It is an age-old debate that will probably never go away. But I want to believe that we're intelligent enough here, and our readership is, that we can reach an agreement on the new direction. So in my space this week, I'm actively soliciting READER GUIDANCE ....(CONTINUED INSIDE.)
