DON'T READ ME FIRST

by Rod Amis

G21 Editor & Publisher

SAN FRANCISCO - 16 April, 1998: Being the height of Fashion(s) and not a fashion-victim is always a tough call.

The Last Woman(TLW,) a.k.a. "Hacker Barbie," and I met at a launch party for the second print version of this magazine. My former-Best Man, and on-going pal, Terry Terrian, said: "Why do you always go for women who dress like nuns?"

When I shared this with TLW, she made it a point of letting me know she had been wearing a Donna Karan outfit that night.

My Response: "Who?"

You have it correct. I wouldn't know a designer from a necromancer.

So the fact that we are doing a FASHION(S) issue is quite discomfitting for me. I'm not sure whether to embark upon a great deal of research, as I edit these articles, or simply take the roster at their word.

On the other hand, we specialize in playing around with a theme, as PHIL MARTIN's piece demonstrates. He wrote me that his submission this week would "stretch" the meaning of this theme, and it does.

Meanwhile, after last week's Pandora's Box theme, I'll be interested to see exactly what the writers come up with. I hope you will, too.

This site is made on a Macintosh: The Ultimate Publishing Weapon. So we have all types of Easter Eggs hidden here --- MacAddicts know what I'm talking about.

There are so many great articles in this edition that I can't begin to tell you about them all! JEFF WINBUSH's BARE KNUCKLES says what a lot of people have wanted to say about Paula Jones. RAOUL TESLA continues to talk life on the ground in Manila. POWERSBOOKS is as erudite as ever. The premiere of ADAM SMITH's POLICY MATTERS column takes you to the Czech Republic and our century's Renaissance Man, Vaclav Havel. FLISS USSHER, our G21 EUROPE columnist does her usual star-turn in LONDON CALLING! And Third Coast badboy THOMAS HART rocks TRIO again. How good can this get?
So use our navigation bar and check them out! [Look Left.]

And if you know of a new site for our Link Partners Program, let us know about that, too.
