TABLE OF CONTENTS & BACK ISSUES

NEW ORLEANS, OCTOBER FULL MOON ONE, 2001 - I am dancing on a small blue marble in the frontier part of the Universe and that tiny silver satellite we call our moon is playing tricks with my head again.

Lynda is being re-activated into the world of people who care about our life on this planet by other adroit, serious people who don't want more death and destruction. And that makes her remember me. Me as I was as a young university student and me as a disciple of Bertrand Russell today. The better Rod; the one she first brought out in me.

The walls of this Glass House seem to be getting murky. Almost opague, where they should be transparent...

Our 'Palladin' logo. I panicked today when I read the notice from Network Solutions telling me that I have until Friday to re-up the domain name of The World's Magazine. They expect me to come up with an extra $70 in the same week that my rent is due. I can only hope that they'll allow me to buy one year of having a voice, instead of the two they are asking. Otherwise, I may have to close the doors...

That is a hard nut to swallow for a man who has prided himself on consistency and longevity. After seeing so many other independent Web sites disappear, I have believed that we could hold on. But now... Well, I chose to move to this version of Port Au Prince-cum-Patterson, New Jersey and now the price of that decision must be paid. My construction-work pick-up jobs have been insufficient all along, but I never suspected they would make an end to the one thing in this world that has sustained me over the years.

The moon was awesome last night. It's a clear day here, in this month of the Blue Moon, so I suspect that it will be equally spectacular tonight. I wish I were in the mood to revel in that.

UTNE advertisement. This hanging by my fingernails has brought out the skin rash I always get when under stress. It attacks my right middle finger. The bumps have gone to a scaley coating. Part of it is an odd nut brown that I have never seen before. That worries me.

D.A. BLYLER sent missive below along. Normally it would appear on our "Vox Populi" page, but -- as it's time-sensitive -- I'm giving it to you here:

Hi Rod,

Columnist Arriana Huffington sent me this petition, and I thought you might want to consider sending this letter out to your mailing list in support of Bill Maher (host of Politically Incorrect--the only discussion round-table on TV worth watching). His show is under threat of being cancelled because of his PI comments. If you want to, you can cut a paste the following....

Thanks...
D.A.

Dear Friends, I have just read and signed the online petition: "In Support of Bill Maher" hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service.

I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider signing yourself. Here is an article explaining the situation:

Best wishes,
Rod Amis

What else can I tell you? Well, I'm still working odd jobs to buy food, beer, smokes and now pay rent at my apartment. I've agreed to live here with Matt and Caio. It's probably for the best. I went to an appointment today to try to start getting temporary paralegal jobs. Yeah, I think I'm going to try to be a paralegal now. (Can you believe it, Unka Eddie?) I'm hoping the money will be better working for lawyers than it is working as a laborer for landlords. Wish me luck.

I'm supposed to write an article for a music magazine down here in Nawlins called "Offbeat." [WARNING: Slo-o-ow Load Web site!] If they like it, I might make a few ducats as a freelancer there, too.

I've stepped into a time-warp, of sorts, by coming here to New Orleans. Things are so economically depressed that you plan for any little thing to take months, instead of days, to happen. I'm trying to adjust to that, but it's difficult.

Keep me in your prayers, as I shall keep you in mine.

THINGS I DREAM ABOUT THIS WEEK

1. The prospect of being paid to do what I love.

2. Getting out of low-paying manual labor and earning money commensurate with my talents and abilities.

3. Digging my way out of debt.
Thanks for coming back this week.

"Work like you don't need the money,
"Love like you've never been hurt,
"Dance like no one is watching..."
