HIGGANUM, CT - 25 September, 1998: A week ago today I was travelling from Santa Rosa to Oakland, California. The next morning I was on a flight to Baltimore, Maryland. That day I went to Columbia/Elkridge, Maryland to visit with G21 Alum' and fellow writer(Andover News Network) Robin Miller. Robin shared a thorough-going history of the flight of industry from Baltimore, which led to the flight of its citizens to the suburbs and exurbs. I learned why the center of the city of Columbia, Maryland, is A MALL... Two days later I was in Westminster, Maryland, visiting fellow Wesleyan University Alum', Bob Purvis, an old and dear friend... I had meant to have this new edition out by that time, but it didn't seem to make a lot of sense to unpack the Memory Machine for a day, then re-pack for my trip here to Connecticut... I arrived on Wednesday, answered all the e-mail which had been piling up, then started on this, our first Right Coast edition of the G21...
Sorry for the delay, but it's not easy to publish and travel simultaneously...
And then there was the fact of all those quick visits and the need to spend some time actually talking f2f with people, sharing meals, touring the area(s) --- I actually went to into Washington, D.C., something I had not done since childhood, and saw the state of our new Rome --- talking, talking, talking... Which left very little time for the solitude necessary for a magazine like this one to be produced.
We have eight(8) new features for you in this issue alone.
Thanks for coming back this week.
WHY?
Because we like you....
Be Good to Each Other,
I am still attempting to adjust to the transition from California. For example, everyone in Maryland seemed to be running air conditioners. I have not been in an air-conditioned environment in almost twenty years, so --- of course --- I caught a head cold. Still trying to shake it, in fact.
So by the time I did "come to rest" this week, I had a very large back-log of new articles to edit and publish. That means you can expect lots of new material in the coming weeks, an exciting prospect for us both.
We're glad you're here. We have a lot to offer this(and EVERY) week. Stick around. More importantly: TELL EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS. We want you here EVERY DAY.

You get the idea.
