The White Album

Publisher's Notes

New York - 23 December, 1998 - Being a publisher you have control over the creative content of your magazine. This is a privilege I have not indulged myself in exercising for 148 weeks. Understanding the responsibilities which come with power, I have been mindful of how easily it can be abused.

Looking around at the political and corporate scenes in my own country, abuse of power is one of my paramount concerns. So I have shied away from doing what many consider my perogative, using this venue to push my own concerns.

This edition of the magazine is different.

This time it is personal.

Why "The White Album: I have determined that this may be our last chance to make a significant statement of principles.

We are now officially in Countdown Mode. No, silly! Not to the Holidays, they're all around us. Rather, we are counting down to the 150th weekly edition of this magazine (we gave up on counting issues back when we were coming out daily.) 150 weeks on the Web --- who would have thunk it when we started this endeavor in March, 1996?

We appear to be following the trend on the Internet and going corporate.

The art of the deal seems to have become more important than the soul of the magazine.

And so our largest issue is followed by our smallest.

Thanks for coming back this week.

We're glad you're here. We have a lot to offer this (and EVERY) week. Stick around. More importantly: TELL EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS. We want you here EVERY DAY.

WHY?

Because we like you...

Be Good to Each Other,
Rod
