Sam writes:The other night I had a strange dream. It started with me and a new friend, a girl, being with other people from our school near an ocean and a dock. Then a guy that I didn't recognize came up and began talking to us. Even though I didnt know him, we talked like we had known each other for a long time. Then it was dark outside and the stars were clearly visible. There was a sunken ship made of wood that was above the surface of the water for some reason. Everyone was gathered around on the dock doing something with the ship. Then the guy I had just met came over to me and there were a few dolphins swimming by. The ship sunk back under the water at this point and there was fire or lightening on the ship as it went down. The guy put his arm around me and asked me "Do you know what that is?" I didn't know what it was, and I thought he was referring to the fire or lightening. He answered that it was blood. He also had blood on his hands. But it didn't bother me. ! !
Then we just stood there on the dock with our arms around each other.
Before I fell asleep I was thinking about my boyfriend, but the man in my dream wasn't my boyfriend. I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but maybe it will help.

Hi Sam,What an interesting dream!
Ok, let's get busy:
First of all, as you may have read from my other interpretations by now, each person in our dream is actually symbolizing an aspect of our own Self, and is not about that person at all. Try to figure out what characteristics you may mirror in this person (describe them as if to a stranger, and there you have their oustanding characteristics or features.) and then apply them to yourself in the context of this dream. Incidentally, note key words "new" friend and "didn't recognize" and apply them to your situation. This is telling you that there are new aspects of your Self emerging that you are not yet familiar with, and just getting to know. But they are compatible, so know you'll grow into them. Especially since you & the guy talk like old friends.
People from your SCHOOL: a school is symbolic of your current lessons in life.
OCEAN: the ocean is symbolic of your life force; the Source of life, ALL that is. It is symbolic of the Source of all knowledge and the primordial soup from which we came, and of the unconscious mind. Also symbolic of one's emotional Self. A deep subject, natch. ;) (sorry!)
DOCK: symbolizes a safe place in which to view the past and future happenings in your life.
STARS in the DARK: symbolize guidance and insight, a powerful symbol! This is showing you clarity and that you will have spiritual guidance on your path.
DOLPHINS: represent the way we should ideally handle our emotions in life...by being playful and happy; carefree.
SUNKEN SHIP made of WOOD *above* the surface of the water: this is a very unique way to describe it, and gives clues. You could have said, "shipwreck" but instead you described it this way. I believe this may be speaking to you in metaphors, such as "waiting for my ship to come in," "my hopes sank" or perhaps both...."My hopes sank while waiting for my ship to come in." Does that strike a chord with you over something you have been going through recently, or your outlook on something that is important to you? "Wood" can be an anagram for "would" as in "would you?" Perhaps even, "Would you trust or believe?" or "Would you really want to make this choice?"

Also, a SHIP is symbolic of your emotional Self, and how you are conducting it. You need to be at the helm and be the captain of your own emotions, instead of letting yourself fall into the illusion that others can control your emotions. Nobody can control your emotions until you actually give them permission. Yeah, I know--it's a hard concept to prove, but I've actually proven it to myself. The trick is learning how not to give our power away. Emotional power is manipulated every day...people use it to sell things to us by tapping in to our emotional fears of not keeping up with the Jones', or that we need a certain anti-persperant because we smell bad (there's a fear!), or our teeth aren't white enough...or that our car isn't good enough protection if we have an accident, and so on and so forth. Emotions are very powerful, and we need to be on our guard to prevent giving our power away to someone else. Some people are very adept at manipulating people's emotions, including loved ones and friends. Some serial killers use a technique of feigning an injury by using props such as crutches and a bandage, fooling a woman into thinking he poses no threat by appealing to her emotions. It is wise to learn how to have a good firm handle on your own emotions from an early age, to prevent much heartache and headaches throughout your life.
A SINKING SHIP speaks of letting your emotions pull you under, and LIGHTNING is an attention-getter that is symbolic of your life force and energy and of the kundalini, same as FIRE, which is also symbolic of purification of old beliefs. There is another metaphor or saying that may be applicable here, "Don't go down with a sinking ship." If you are involved in a situation that others are joining and you are hesitating, this dream is telling you to heed your own instincts and insight!
What is the kundalini, you may ask? Kundalini is said to be the energy center of our bodies, emanating from our spines, and housing 7 chakras. I am a novice when it comes to kundalini, so here is what Kurt Keutzer of Kundalini Resource Center has to say about it:
*What is kundalini?
``Kundalini'' literally means coiling, like a snake. In the classical literature of hatha yoga kundalini is described as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine. The image of coiling, like a spring, conveys the sense of untapped potential energy. Perhaps more meaningfully kundalini can be described as a great reservoir of creative energy at the base of the spine. ... It's more useful to think of kundalini energy as the very foundation of our consciousness so that when kundalini moves through our bodies our consciousness necessarily changes with it.
The concept of kundalini can also be examined from a strictly psychological perspective. From this perspective kundalini can be thought of as a rich source of psychic or libidinous energy in our unconscious.
and here is a definition of Chakra:Chakra in Sanskrit, the ancient language of India, means "what revolves" or "wheel," indicating that these force centers are wheels of energy. There are 7 in the body."
Ok, getting back to the dream...you said that at that point, "the guy put his arm around me and asked me "Do you know what that is?" I didn't know what it was, and I thought he was referring to the fire or lightning. He answered that it was blood. He also had blood on his hands. But it didn't bother me. ! !"
BLOOD is symbolic of (again!) life force. It is normal to have many of your dream symbols repeat themselves as a way of reinforcing the message in your subconscious mind. It's pretty uncanny, isn't it? After doing many dream interpretations and having them turn out with such strong, obvious messages for the dreamer, it is quite enlightening and reinforcing that dreams do in fact carry strong guidance for us. In this instance, we don't really know what is bleeding, correct? You said earlier in your dream account that everyone had been "doing something with the ship." You didn't mention that it seemed sad to you in any way to watch the ship sink, and the whole scene seemed rather happy, in fact. Is this the way you felt? There are metaphors that refer to "I've put my life's blood into that project" and this may be what the blood symbolizes in this instance. Can you relate it to anything in your life?
In closing, this dream seems to be referring quite often to your emotional Self, and also the creative kundalini life force which is possibly awakening in you, now, and giving you insight into the direction your life will take. Just be careful not to let your emotions rule you, and to make your own decisions based on what's right for *you*. Good luck!
Now for my usual disclaimer....please take any interpretations as suggestions to sift through and "try on for size," and only keep what seems to "fit" in your situation. If it feels true to you, go with your intuition. If it doesn't feel true, or off-kilter in some way, then explore further for answers that do seem to fit. My interpretation isn't meant to be therapy or professional advice. But I sure hope it helped!
Most people feel overwhelmed about now, and it will probably take several re-readings of this interp before it starts to sink in, depending on the length of the interpretation.
Please let me know what your thoughts are on this interpretation. I appreciate your feedback!
Thank you for submitting your dream to G21 for interpretation.
