No spam this week? Darn!

From John McG., Dallas, TX, USA:

SUBJECT: MOIA # 57

Rod,

Very interesting piece.

Linux. No jihad here. I have used/using Linux for 6+ years. Great OS but you are right what a pain in the A-- to install. But then have you tried MS 2000 Advanced Server lately? Damn near as hard. Only perceived ease is that MS thows up the wizards to prompt one through it.

I suspect that until Linux reaches a significant portion as a preinstall option (like MS products) the lack of ease of installation will hamper deployment to the masses. The easiest Linux install I have seen so far is Mandrake. But I wouldn't expect my Dad to get this one done either....

However if the legal issues surrounding MS products and the end user community get any worse there maybe a move to GPL licensed products whether Linux or not.

Have a great holiday and see you next Century.....

Very good - subtle, smooth and a clean finish. Hats off to Mr.Smith.

I am a fairly consistent reader of G21 and would like to say I enjoyed your piece on Belarus.

From Brad B., (No City Provided,) USA:

Subject: GOOD JOB!

I just read your interview with Vanessa Del Rio who I recently interviewed for my column but only on boxing. She is a big fan of the sport and very knowledgeable.

The reason I am writing you is I commend you for asking her intelligent questions and also making intelligent observations. V as she told me to call her, is a sex goddess but don't be fooled by that fact because behind all that, you have one intelligent woman. I am glad you showed that side of her and I tried to do the same in my piece. You can read it: www.boxingwise.com once there go to number 22. The Berkwitt Files and you will see it amongst other interviews.

All the Best,
Brad B.

Hi,

I enjoyed your article. If you have information on working with orphaned children, please write me.

Thanks!

From Michael S., (No City Provided,) CA, USA:

Is there any plan to organize a demonstration against the Bush inauguration? After all, he didn't get the votes, basically stole the election, and has come out virulently right wing, anti-environment, anti-choice in his appointments as if he had a mandate.... Seems to me we should go to Washington. Do you know of any such plan? Is there a website?

ROD RESPONDS: Mike,

Thanks for visiting G21 and for writing. This is all I've seen thus far:

From Todd N, Minneapolis, MN, USA:

SUBJECT: Happy Holidays

Dear Rod,

Glad to see you're taking a couple of weeks off to recharge your batteries and bring a new millenium look to the G21. I don't usually write to Web sites, but I just wanted to let you know that I've been following G21 off and on for two years and thought this year was one of your best!

Love the new look of the Web 'zine, but I have one bone to pick with you. Why don't you do a Table of Contents page anymore? That way we could see what's the latest in all of your sections? I think it would help people appreciate more all the great material you people post here. This is one of my favorite Web 'zines and I tell people about it all the time. But I still think getting around and finding all the great material is a drawback.

Thanks for your time,
Todd N.

ROD RESPONDS: Todd, thanks for writing. As you'll see from this week's cover, your wish is my command. Thanks for your patronage.

From Celia K, (No City Provided,) USA:

Hi,

I just found your Zine for the first time from the link at bla-bla.com. I just have one question. Why don't you do more on today's music, films and TV?
