Easter Egg Hunt
WAIT! Could this be the notorious g21 easter egg? (High-speed connection Recommended. 2.3 MB download.) From Ric W., Austin, TX, USA:
Subject: on mardi gras--why women must bear their breasts for beads--the intelligensia responds
Carnival is both counter-revolutionary and apocalyptic. As a vent it lessens the likelihood of real revolution; as a real event it is fraught with revolutionary possibility for it shows us what might be were the draconian shackles of persona loosed: the promise of apocalypse is the promise of a better world, a world where falsity would hold the currency truth now holds.
Give up abstractions of control; feel the fullness of the fleeting flesh; those flashing breasts, firm and ripe; there is the very sweetness of your life, a sweetness videos will not capture, not photographs nor poems. Who would disparage such a delicate and passing thing? Hold one in each hand, drink deep of their ready favor. In real time. Now. For tomorrow you are dead. Or was it yesterday the spectre passed?

"The [M. M.] Bakhtin who continues to be part of a struggle against authoritarian discourse, the Bakhtin who defended the novel in its darkest hour in Stalin's Soviet union, and who like Franz Fanon was scarred by exile and maimed by his history, is-like Fanon-a prophet of postcoloniality, which is that mongrel, polyglot and fantastically polyvalent inheritance felt so acutely by Rushdie, the no-placeness which circumstance has decreed a home to so many of us. And so it is no coincidence that what Bakhtin valued in the novel is what has animated the artistic efflorescence of this century and of many other times, its resistance to the tides of History [by] giving voice to the fringe-dwellers of societies and civilizations, to the individuals who resist hegemony." Subject: Apathy in the Queer Community
I just wanted to say that I was at the rally held for Aaron Webster, the Vancouver man who was beaten to death in Stanley Park for being gay.
I realize that many gays and lesbians do not show up for rallies such as this.Ý But I am proud to say that over 2000 people joined in Aaron's memory, and to protest the murder of this innocent man.
As well, the Vancouver police force admitted from theÝbeginning, and at the rally, that this was a hate crime!Ý Thank you to the police for the aknowledgement of this.

Subject: ÝThe stars my destination - Terra is my nation
Hi Robin:
I read your web site.
Bester's best book is without a doubt "The Stars My Destination"
He explores advanced concepts such as teleportation and their effect on society. No more railroads, no roads period. Few airplanes, and only as toys for the rich. Girls rooms have no windows.
All in all a great book.
I see a different future, one closer to 9-11 than Star Trek.
Have a "Jaunting" good time.
Carlos

From Sean Altman, New York, NY, USA:
Subject: Book a Sean House Concert!
Would you or someone you know like to host a Sean Altman House Concert? It's a great way for performers like me to bypass the restrictive club scene and bring music directly to the people. With the imminent release of my new CD -- alt.mania -- I plan to take my guitar on the road as often as possible. If you're interested, drop a line. If I can't get to your area right now, I hope to be able to string together enough dates to make a future tour financially feasible.
Here's how it works:
The host's living room (or other room that can accommodate 20-30 seated guests) becomes the setting for an unamplified solo acoustic performance of about 75 minutes. The host and I both publicize the event via email, and the host takes email reservations. Tickets cost $10 cash which goes directly into the Sean Altman career fund. Typically the host provides soft drinks and snacks, although sometimes guests are invited to bring beer and baked goods. The host provides seating via folding chairs and/or couches. I do two sets with a shmooze/snack break in between. No waiting around at clubs, no smoke-filled bars, no age restrictions, no ear-shredding sound systems, no short performances; just an intimate, interactive evening where the performer and audience get to enjoy each other's company. Please forward this to interested parties. Thanks! Send inquiries to houseconcerts@seanaltman.com
Yours,
Sean Altmanhttp://www.seanaltman.com
