Subject: American Dreams/Enabling article

The article American Dreams/Enabling is a very touching piece. It is easy to understand the author's caring and hurt for a loved one and all of us can relate to the stuggle of trying to help a loved one that has a drug or alcohol problem. This is a very raw, down-to-earth,heart wrenching piece.Hope to see more from this author,Telsa Crone.

From Telsa Crone, Lost River, WV, USA:

SUBJECT: your piece

Dear Grasshopper,

I just finished reading your piece. You are amazing. I'm not just saying that, you really are.

And no matter how far you feel like your sinking in that 'black hole', you remain a master of words and truth. That's what it's all about.

Your friend Always,
Telsa

ROD RESPONDS: Telsa, thanks for the kind words. It's appreciated. I have to admit, though, that I'm usually disappointed with my own effort here. I never feel finished.

From Mike, (No City Provided,) USA:

SUBJECT: Charlie the Tuna

I too think that Mexico has givin rebirth to great whore houses.....I was wondering which one you went to.....as it is my birthday coming up and would like nothing better than to Celebrate in TJ....!!!

Thanks
Mike

CHARLIE RESPONDS: Mike,

Hope you have a happy and fun-filled birthday. For my money, one of the best places to stop in TJ has to be Club Panama, even though that's not where me and the bros decided to go this time. Check it out! Stay Hard.

From Glen B., (No City Provided), USA:

From Hugh L., (No City Provided,) USA:

SUBJECT: Enabling by Telsa Crone

I just wanted to say that it really is ashame, but also very true as to the way some people think that drinking is the only way out. I have known several people that think that way. I my self have never been a big drinker, and I have quit as of 1982.

But of the ones that seem to think the other way also puts other lives in danger, it is to bad that Telsa is unable to get her brother to under stand the evils of this problem.I feel if she can stick to her guns and try and convince him of his habits of drinking and driving, with his own children in the car,the results are not good. So do we blame the parents, who do we blame?

TELSA RESPONDS: To everyone who responded to my arcticle "Enabling",

I send a warm 'Thank you.'

My hope, is that through sharing my personal experience, I can open some eyes and introduce a new approach to supporting a friend or loved one. The story of the three little girls who were lost is a true one. And who knows? Maybe if their parents had gotten the help they obviously needed, they would be alive today. Attending college, getting married, and rocking their babies to sleep.

We'll never know, but for today, we can all make a positive difference. A special 'Thank You' to Rod for letting me get my message out there.

From Robert P., Suffolk, VA, USA:

SUBJECT: oppose bush

No room for you in my heart or mind. As a surviving WWII vet I can only say that you should be ashamed. And move to any other country.

ROD RESPONDS: Thanks for visiting G21 and for writing. My question for you, sir, is what happened to the American ideal that no government is right simply by dint of being in power? I suspect you'd have problems with former President Jefferson on this idea, as you do with me. It seems to me that you're beginning to resemble the very ideas you once fought to oppose.
