No, I'm not talking about Christmas Lists.? I'm talking about our now-notorious list of the Bottom Ten people of the year.? It's time for the dish.? As Longtime Loyal Readers know, our "Bottom Ten" list is much like Mr. Blackwell's "Worst Dressed" list.? So I'll ask you the same question I've asked readers for the last nine years:
POLL QUESTION: What ten people could we have done without this year in order for the world to have been a better or happier place?? Who were the Lowest of the Low?
DEADLINE for your nominations is 15 December, 2005.? The results will be published in our final edition of 2005.
Send your nominees for the 2005 Bottom 10 to rod@g21.net with the "Subject" line "Bottom 10". Thank you!
We LOVE to hear from you! Glad you're taking the time to be part of the commentary of The World's Magazine.
The G21 READERSHIP POLL
Yes, Kids, it's that time again!? It's the time of the year when G21 readers start making their lists and checking them twice.

THE WORLD -
From Matt F., (No City Provided,) USA:
SUBJECT: Tikki Tikki Timbo
Hi,
I was cruising the net trying to remember how to spell a name correctly that I wanted to use as the name of my fantasy basketball team, when I came across your web page. Interestingly, someone had posted a question on your page regarding the very name I was trying to learn how to spell. Although I had the record, I was too lazy to walk 3 feet to my closet and grab it from the shelf. Yes, the "Tikki Tikki Timbo" record. Well, mystery solved. I had (and still have) that record too!!!! In fact, I was so intrigued, I actually got out of my chair to retrieve it from the closet!
As it turns out, it was not Donovan's "Riki Tiki Tavi" after all. Rather, it was "Tikki Tikki Tembo" by Arlene Mosel. The story was narrated by George Rose and the music was composed and conducted by Joseph Raposo. It is from 1970 (copyright 1968), was produced by Robert Mack, directed by Bernice Chardiet, and released by Scholastic Records. It is a 33.
I havent played the record in years and years but do remember it quite fondly. Tikki Tikki Timbo falls into a well and the boy who is trying to rescue him continusly has to repeat his name because Tikki can't hear him. The boy becomes exhausted at repeating the very long name. At this point my memory gets foggy but judging from the picture on the sleeve, he is rescued by a man, probably his father, with a ladder.
Well, I don't know how old your page is or if this email address still works, but I thought it would be kool to help "Leonard" and yourself out. The record brings back fond memories for me too.
Cheers!
Matt

From Matthew P. (No City Provided,) USA:
SUBJECT: Russell
Dear Rod:
I was interested to read your article about Lord Russell. I'm writing an article against Joseph Campbell right now, I wonder what you think of him (if you're familiar with him).
Sincerely,
Matthew
ROD RESPONDS:Matthew,Thanks for visiting G21 and for writing. It's appreciated. I'm pleased you enjoyed the essay.
It's difficult not to be familiar with Campbell if you live in the Western world. There's George Lucas's citation of Campbell as part of the inspiration behind the original "Star Wars" trilogy and Bill Moyer's famous serious of interviews with the name. His expression, "Follow your bliss," has become part of the lexicon.
But while I've always given some credit to the Jungian approach, I think it's too dependent on iconography, and that's a bit of simplistic way of looking at life. So I've enjoyed listening to Campbell's formulas while not necessarily agreeing with them.
Cheers!
From Dr. Dennis B., Silver Bay, MN, USA:
SUBJECT: Martin Franzmann;
I came across your article regarding Martin's son when I was searching for a little information on Martin. He was born and raised in the same town as my father, Lake City, MN, probably very near one another. My father has dementia and is near 90 so I can't ask him about knowing Martin. Otherwise, he had an excellent memory.
I am an LCMS pastor in Silver Bay, MN (LCMS since 1999), though I was ordained in the ALC and graduated from Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN.
Dennis
ROD RESPONDS:Dennis,Thanks for visiting G21 and for writing! We very much appreciate hearing from our readers. I'm passing your e-mail on to Ron Diener, the author of that article, who I'm sure will be delighted to get back to you.
Cheers!
