And You Think What?...

From Jurate M., Vilinius, LITHUANIA:

Oliver,

Your more old cartoon with new-comer from cosmos doesn't agree with truth too. It is known long ago that "new-comers" are military machinery of reconnaissance of USA. In 1991 or in 1992 I saw such with my own eyes over Lithuania.

Kind Regards,
Jurate

From Mike S., [No City Provided,] USA:

Rod,

I thought it was interesting that in a Gallup Poll about honesty of professionals, one of the professions they asked about was "Journalists who publish only on the Internet," and it ended up 40th out of 46. Only Insurance salesmen, HMO managers, Advertising practitioners, Telemarketers, and Car salesmen ranked lower. I wonder what it means... :)

"My Humility is one of the things that makes me great!" - Mike - (Stolen from Tom Magliozzi :)

From Rein M., [No City Provided], CANADA:

excellent work brilliant !,you deserve a place in heaven ,if there is one -here or there after,

I think this is some kind of civil war you are having, witch hunt or brutal population control or race war ?

Dr R. M.

From Dave W., [No City Provided], USA:

Hi,

As someone who grew up in the 60's I learned to find out what's happening when a lot of people hit the streets to protest something.Ý At the same time I learned that how words are used is the first place to see the bias of the communicator.Ý Over time I came to see that unloaded words are the ones to trust for information.Ý

The Seattle protests have pulled up my WTO antenna.

Unfortunately the sadly loaded words of this paragraph cause me to work much harder at reading your words.Ý If you could just give me the news I will decide if it is good or bad.Ý When you try to tell me whether it is good or bad I learn much more about you than about the issue.

The words in question are:

"...Labor unions representing their members are in a struggle to extract a parity ratio of the economic benefit of production. Additionally, management attempts to maximize the economic benefit of production for themselves (back to that exchange idea again...)".

The labor unions struggle to extract simple parity while management attempts to maximize.Ý Loaded, loaded, loaded &.Ý I stopped reading at that point.

Respectfully,
Dave W.

NOW SEE HERE, ROD!....

From Terry Lee T. , Santa Rosa, CA, USA:

Hi Stud

Just a note to say "Howdy" and keep you up with all the happenings with me.

Hey!-remember that chick Anabelle that used to live down stairs from you when you were living on Geary at the ol' Venus De Milo Arm's? The "hostess" at Chez Paree? Check this out my brother, last week I accompanied my new girl( who is a nice trim piece of work from Mauritius, of all places)friend down to San Francisco to a meeting with her Federal Probation officer and I am sitting in the waiting room with Monique thumbing thru the latest Federal Institution Digest or somthin' when -boing,hello there!- in strolls our ol' pal Annabelle and guess what? No foolin' man, Anabelle is Monique's P.O. And she still looks great man with the great legs and that big beautiful bosom, and so she is standing there with her mouth open and I am sitting there with my mouth open for a couple of seconds and then we both started cracking up man, and then Monique's jaw went slack -whew!- what a trip. So we brought each other up to date with all the goings on since "95". Forget any of your probation officer stereotypes, the skinny arms, pencil neck and green teeth do not apply at all in this case no suh! Geez-remember when we used to snicker about her "homework load " har-har? Surprise- she must have spent some time at least hitting the books-EH? She passes a hug and kisses along to the Pub Man (oh please! I made her beg.).

Man,I am surprised, shocked really that you weren't all over that stuff my brother. But maybe it is not too late. I know I thought about getting something going, but it would be just be too bizarre a scene right now, besides if there is one thing I have learned from you over the years it is not to be greedy over the -youknow.

Still can't get over it. But the strangest thing is -imagine going to school to become a P.O.of all things! I want to go to P.O school so I can tell people what to do and where they can go and how many cars they can own(true!) and where they can work and have you had a drink, and where do you live and pee in this bottle and jump when I say, or you WILL go to prison sucker. December 9 I celebrated 9 years parole and Probation Free. Hope you are proud.

Also before I forget, I thought you might like an update on the doings of your ex brother-in-law DON FISHER!Ha-Ha. That's right, mon, that is Donald G. Fisher the Founder of The Gap Inc., mega-billionaire,(Gap,Old Navy,Banana Republic) San Francisco power-broker, ruthless predatory capitalist ,(Melanesian Sweat shops)union buster,(go to http://www.globalexchange.org/ click Update, then Urgent Actions.)

Seems like your ol' Bro' Don isn't content to scrape by on the family fortune of 11 bil. Looks to me as if growing fat as a tick on the exploitation (my opinion) of third world people has lost some of the joy it used to have, so on to new arenas, new challenges, eh. SO one day,our man Donald G., he must have been thinkin' and he thinks... hmmmmm, not many challenges left out there for a man of my stature. Less'ee here, I've made billions of dollars, met and conquored every challenge, and re-invented the clothing business along the way. I am respected, loved, feared and reviled by the vast minions in business and politics who know and respect power. What next. What can I do? Concert pianist? Nah. The clergy? Get real. Amway? What?

And then it hit. The moment of epiphany -doink- "What about buying up 230,000 acres of Redwood forest land in Mendocino and clearcutting it? Then I can cut the old growth redwoods, and, spray toxic herbicides too. Plus the money isn't bad either!

By God,I'll do it!

And that's what he did. Read more about good citizen Don, and his wacky family at http://www.gapsucks.org/.

I hope the G-21 readers will read more, so they will know more and I hope that people will not shop the Gap or Old Navy or Banana Republic, but if they did some shopping there this holiday season ,I hope that they will GET THEIR MONEY BACK, thats right, get your money back and Just say -NO - to ruthless predatory capitalism.

Guess I'll close - DEATH TO ALL SHAREHOL...-'scuse me, ah mean, over & out.

ROD RESPONDS:
Von Helsing,

I used to think you were a true representative of the Everyday Worker, Honest Hod-carrying (Fulltime) Man, but now in your dotage you are becoming another Commie-Pinko Sympathizer!!!

Turn back! Get with The Righteous. We live to consume mass quantities and suck at the Corporate trough! What are you thinking?

As to Annabelle: Well, damn! Another one I missed! (And, of course you had to remind me as I sit here cooze-less and shoes mismatched!)

Hey! Ask her what's she's doin' for New Year's Eve of this Y2K. I could use a date for partying like it's 1999, even if she is part of the criminal justice system.... I'm a liberal kindah guy in that respect. Has she ever been to Cancun?

As to the readers of the G21, I have to believe they have The Clue by now.

Von Braunsweiger
