To the Editor:
After reading the denunciation of your DAY ONE columnist, Mr. Kevin Carey, in the VOX POPULI'S last update, I felt compelled to write in his defence. I consider Mr. Carey one of your most consistent serious contributors and have enjoyed reading his middle-of-the-road stance on most of the serious news stories of the day.
I look forward to reading his thoughts each week and encourage you not to remove him from your staff. While understanding that many of your readers are probably younger and don't understand some of his characteristically British perspectives on issues, many of us appreciate having a serious commentator like Mr. Carey to balance out so much of the inane drivel offered by the WWW.
As to Jennifer Blue, after reading her latest contribution on airports, I join the ranks of those mystified by your continuing support of her work at this otherwise excellent Web project. I, also, wonder why you even bother including a horoscope here.
Thanks for accepting my .02 on your efforts.
Sincerely,
Arnold M.

Dear Rod:
First, I am so glad to hear you actually saw a physician and are not on any fast track to the "seperator of friends". Yeah, a lot of German names relate to food or food trades. Italy is a lovely country, but it also has a lot of poverty, especially in Sicily where my grandfather came from....they would all get the tapeworms, so then they would follow a rich guy smoking a cigar and beg him for the butt. The idea was to eat the butt (yuck! ) which would flush out the tapeworm (nicotene stuns them). Consequently my grandfather started smoking around 5 or 6 yrs. of age.
Glad to see I got everyone (except maybe you) a little hungry, or at least thinking about the food chain. I was relieved that Radio R. was able to "stomach" the idea of mentioning my name (after our exchange of thoughts on such an inflamitory and complex subject as race relations) and I thought his article got in some good licks (food pun) at other concerns on the "what-the-hell-are-they-feeding-us" issue; plus, he was, as usual, humorous to boot. Raheem was quite right that food production capability, far outstrips demand.........Unfortunately, PROFIT stands between our god given "amber waves of grain" and the emaceated bodies of the starving. Out of respect for the fact that most in this country are able to get their hands (and mouths) onto more then sufficient food, I direct YOU to eat your peas and carrots, or whatever the doctor ordered.
Looks like a good week.....I'll take my time savoring it. Thanks.

Mates!
Just when I'm thinking it's safe to venture into the G21 waters again you do that SCAREY and brilliant three-parter series of RDR columns on food!
Cheers to Ed Cantarella's book review/article on Deadly Feasts! I didn't think Yanks had even heard of "kuru" though we all know about "mad cow disease" these days. The two follow-ups were 1 - Funny, and 2 - Fair dinkum!
Keep making me afraid to come back here!
Regs,
Tom M.

This message was forwarded to me. Please take a look.
I just picked up some interesting information regarding "No Fear". Perhaps you have seen this decal on automobile windows, etc.
Well, in the Old Dominion(VA) specifically in Chesterfield County, the administrators wanted to designate April as Confederate Month. To make a long story short, David Duke, former grand wizard for the KKK, was in town to speak at a shopping mall. David Duke is the head of a group calling itself NO FEAR; it stands for: "National Organization For European-American Rights."
All this time I thought No Fear was just something young white people placed onto their vehicles, meaning they fear nothing because of their youth.
Please pass this on so that more of our people know what No Fear really means.
