Been kindah busy in here this week. Lots of people back from vacation, I guess. You new around here?

We get compliments on our jukebox all the time. Nice tunes, huh?

Kudos, brickbats, spam, you'll find it all right here. Who knew so many people could even find this Web magazine. Klaus? Oh, just ignore him. He's living in two dimensions at the same time.

Relax, okay?

This is where our readers and writers get to talk to each other.

Enjoy!

Subject: Rockin'ist City

Dear Rod:

My vote is for DETROIT:

(a) original home of Motown;

(b) only city proclaimed, as part of a song, "Detroit audiences are the greatest rock-n-roll audiences in the world" (Bob Segar-"Nutbush City Limits" (I was there, Cobo Arena,1975 - the live recording);

(c)Joe Louis' hometown;

(d)home of Montreux Jazz festival;

(e) biological home of the American automobile(hah!);

(e) "Detroit - we eat the weak" t-shirts;

(f) excellent diversity of demographics, meaning anyone can fit in (if they try);

(g) Kiss's song - "Detroit Rock City".

WIN ROD AMIS'S MONEY!!!

IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER THAN FREE BENJAMINS IN YOUR POCKET? You tell us.

With the holiday spending season looming big-time, wouldn't it be nice if you could spend our publisher's money instead of your own? Well, just click-through to our special Sweepstakes Page and find out how easy that can be, Dreamer. Do it now.

He's too f'n funny! I had one of those idiots show up for an interview with my boss....a few minutes later he is coming back to tell me to "run her through a brief typing test as a formality"......before he slips out of my suite he says,"her resume is most impressive, she could probably teach all of our staff some things"(he gets almost gleeful at the thought of firing someone,anyone,and replacing them with a new hire ). The ad said"MUST BE PROFICIENT IN WORDPERFECT"(used by like 60% of all law offices). I sit her down in front of a workstation, and give her a one page pleading. I come back maybe 15 minutes later and she is red with frustration. "What is that little @ everyplace I pressed enter". Duh - it's the default hard return symbol so you know where you hit enter, as opposed to a soft return or word wrap - a look of complete non-comprehension. Then I notice the Wodperfect for Dummies book sitting in her purse.

My Italian food seems to garner the most compliments, so I can't argue with his logic, but we never ate Italian food when I was a kid,at all(mom's Czech) - maybe it's a "hard-wired" kinda thang.

Subject: restaurant bigotry

the best creole - cajun food i ever had was made by a pakistani who trained in france and lousiana.

so although I agree with the general concept of restaurant bigotry, I do not think it is entirely valid.

If you ever get up to CT go to a place called Creative Cooking on route one in westbrook. it is off of I95 exit 65 I think and head further northeast on rt 1 when you get off the highway.

cheers!

SUBJECT: I like your site!

Hello, Ý

This is my first time checking out your site and I have enjoyed being more infor from it. I feel that this country is getting even worse with racism and all this marching sometimes just piss me off. I do attend most of them in hopes one of our leaders will say something that comes from the heart and mean it. I have been a memeber of the NAACP until recent because I feel that they only touch high profile cases and the little people does not have a voice out there when injustice has been served to them. I was arrested recently and told by a white judge in her court her gut feelings is the only thing that matters and find me guilty based on that and that alone. Black children are being sold all the time to the state with federal funds into foster care and it does not matter if there is a Black family memeber ready to care for the children. It does not happen to white children unless their really is no one who will care for them. My grandaughters were sold to the states even though my husband and I are able to care for them as well as the other grandparents and many relatives and know one seems to think this is improtant. I am not the only Black in this good ole boy redneck that is going through this at this time. I ask where are our leaders to help us fight against a new form of slavery? Ý

I will continue to fight for the rights of all children and I believe I should put my energy with the Black Panthers!!!!!!

Thanks for listening and take care,
Debra S.

Subject: voting (was Re: what's this world coming to?)]

Yeah Joe!!! You are dead on the 2000 elections. Nader can definitely win because of two reasons

A) he will pull equally from the repulicrats and the democans. maybe get %15 of those votes.

then B) he will get 30-40% of the %60 percent who don't vote at all. They *are* the majority.

Jesse Ventura was only the first. Everybody keep your eyes open wide cause this is a wilde tyme.
-d

PS ...and for those who say that Ralph Nader and Winona LaDuke will have no support in congress, forget not the unspoken Bradley's and McCain's, who have kept quiet out of fear of the Moral Majority or the GOP Leadership and the DLC (Liberman and Gore's pet project for centrist views and corporate pandering). Our elected officials are not all as bad as our stereotypes might lead us to belive. I for one, have faith.
